ABOUT US

Sports technology born in the gym

MOOVIA is a Barcelona start-up building a platform and devices for strength training. We started with a sensor for the bar.

ORIGIN

Why we exist

MOOVIA was born on a clean-and-jerk day, with a coaching lesson we didn't expect: you don't need to hit maximal weights every day. Behind it was VBT: if you know how fast the bar moves, you know the load you're really working with today, not the one the spreadsheet said.

We want to be a technology company for athletes: for people who train seriously and today decide by feel, not because they don't know better, but because the data isn't in front of them. We started with a VBT-focused sensor, built by us from the electronics to the app. The next step is the platform where that data becomes history, PRs and community.

MISSION

Where we are heading

To let everyone who lifts log, understand and share their progress with data that can be checked.

We want to build an ecosystem for strength training: one platform, several devices and one community, held to the same measurement standard. Today it is one sensor; the rest is in development.

What the platform will look like

STATUS AND TIMELINE

Where we are

MOOVIA is a start-up at prototype stage. This is what exists today, without embellishment.

  • Sensor

    Working prototype

Our own board, firmware and app, tested in real training sessions.

  • Capture

    Verified

1,000 samples per second, with no losses in the tests of 22 October 2026.

  • Metrics

    In validation

The app calculates reps, velocity and range of motion; we do not publish their accuracy yet.

  • Athlete app

    Test version

It logs sets, counts reps and exports the signal. First real sessions between 22 and 26 October 2026.

  • Platform

    In development

The screens on this site are mock-ups with sample data.

  • Next sensor

    In design

A new version of the device, with updated electronics.

Our timeline

  1. First prototype: perfboard, microcontroller, radio, charging module and IMU. Enough to show the idea was worth pursuing.

  2. First board designed by us, in its housing and mounted on a competition bar, in a gym.

  3. Brand identity and user profiles: weightlifting, functional fitness and strength training in the gym.

  4. First in-house rep-counting algorithm built on the raw signal.

  5. The app connects to the sensor and receives the signal in real time. First version for test users.

  6. First version of the athlete app.

  7. First design of athlete accounts and sync, the technical base of the platform.

  8. Capture at 1,000 samples per second with no losses, verified after fixing how the sensor is read.

  9. First real training sessions with the athlete app: squat, deadlift and snatch, with loads from 40 to 110 kg.

  10. New rep counting that does not depend on tempo, and a dedicated mode for the Olympic lifts.

  11. New sensor version in design, metrics in validation and platform in development.

How we work

We measure before we promise

No metric is presented as verified until it has been checked against a reference, and we say which one and when.

No promises ahead of time

Anything that does not exist yet is labelled as in development, on this site too.

Your data, exportable

Your data is yours: the app exports every set with the raw signal and, if you leave, your captures leave with you. With your permission, MOOVIA uses anonymous, aggregated data to improve its algorithms.

Frequently asked questions

Who is behind MOOVIA?

MOOVIA is a Barcelona start-up founded by Ashlyn Abraham Cedeño Holguín. We develop the sensor, the firmware and the app ourselves.

How long has MOOVIA existed?

The first prototype dates from October 2025 and the first in-house board from January 2026.

Where does MOOVIA stand?

As of 26 October 2026: sensor at prototype stage, 1000 Hz capture with no losses verified, metrics in validation and platform in development.

What does “data quality” mean for MOOVIA?

Four things that can be checked: how often and with what ranges the device measures, how many samples are lost, whether the raw signal is kept in full, and the status of each metric.
